Sind denn diese WERKCHEN A-Zeichnungen singulär oder Bestandteil von anderen Künstlerbuch- oder Editionsreihen?

In der Mehrzahl sind sie singulär. Manchmal sind sie auch Originalentwürfe zu anderen Künstlerzeitschriften. Eines (Nr. 59, BIRD EATING SPIDER, WERKCHEN A) wurde als Cover einer Literaturvideokassette der Galerie Paranorm verwendet. Ab 1992/1993 bekam ich ja immer mehr Zugang zu diesen Netzwerken. Das System war in den 1990er Jahren und darüber hinaus immer ähnlich. „Stelle 20, 30 oder 50 Zeichnungen her, signiere und nummeriere sie und sende sie dann zu. Honorar gab es nicht, aber ein Belegexemplar mit den Originalarbeiten aller anderen Künstlerinnen und Künstler“.

Kunst umsonst ist geschenkt?

Geschenkt ist das nicht. Manche Künstlereditionen oder -zeitschriften haben im Laufe der Zeit ja einen größeren Wert entwickelt. 

Gibt es ein Lieblingswerk aus WERKCHEN A? 

Vielleicht Nr. 39 ZYKLOP (B). Hermes Phettberg aus Wien mochte diese Zeichnung sehr, obwohl dort Zyklop handschriftlich falsch geschrieben wurde. Dort steht ja „ZYKLOB (B)“. Vielleicht wäre dieser Titel sogar besser. 

Welche Zeichnungen und Texte erscheinen dir heute schlecht? In welchen Bildern erkennst du dich kaum noch wieder?

WERKCHEN A & B hat schon einige schlechte Bilder. Nr. 53, IRRGÄRTCHEN aus WERKCHEN A ist schon ziemlich schlecht. Desweiteren Nr. 34 und Nr. 55. Nr. 47 Stier stur ist mir fremd, überrascht mich aber. Nr. 35 ist merkwürdig und erinnert mich an einen reaktionären Kunstlehrer auf der Realschule, der einen Backenbart trug und fortschrittlich tat. Der meinte immer, dass ich etwas anderes ausdrücken wolle als ich ausdrücken würde. Irgendwie erinnert mich Nr. 35 an diesen Lehrer.

Are these WERKCHEN A drawings unique or part of other artist book or edition series?

Most of them are unique. Sometimes they are also original designs for other artists' magazines. One (No. 59, BIRD EATING SPIDER, WERKCHEN A) was used as the cover of a literary video cassette for the Paranorm Gallery. From 1992/1993 I got more and more access to these networks. The system was always similar in the 1990s and beyond. “Produce 20, 30 or 50 drawings, sign and number them and then send them. There was no fee, but a specimen copy with the original works of all the other artists”.

Art for free is a gift?

It is not a gift. Some artists' editions or magazines have developed a greater value over time. 

Is there a favorite work from WERKCHEN A? 

Perhaps no. 39 ZYKLOP (B). Hermes Phettberg from Vienna liked this drawing very much, although Zyklop was misspelled by hand. It says “ZYKLOB (B)”. Perhaps this title would be even better. 

Which drawings and texts seem bad to you today? In which pictures do you hardly recognize yourself?

WERKCHEN A & B already has some bad pictures. No. 53, IRRGÄRTCHEN from WERKCHEN A is already pretty bad. Also No. 34 and No. 55. No. 47 Stubborn Bull is strange to me, but surprises me. No. 35 is strange and reminds me of a reactionary art teacher at secondary school who wore a whisker and acted progressive. He always said that I wanted to express something other than what I was expressing. Somehow No. 35 reminds me of this teacher.
